Rapunzel, Let down your hair...

I wanted to add another version of the Rapunzel hat that I just made. For this one, I knitted the flower and I added two braids. I just keep thinking how adorable it would be to throw a birthday party for my little lady and have her and her little friends wearing these hats! This hat is available at my Etsy Store!

I love the movie Tangled! So, when I saw a crochet version of this Rapunzel hat on Pinterest from Simplistically Sassy, I knew I had to make one of my own. I am a knitter, so I had to make up my own version of the hat.

Hat Directions:
Sizes: baby (child, adult)
Materials: worsted yarn, #8 16” circular needles, yarn needle, marker
Cast on 60 (70, 80)
Work in K1P1 rib for 1 inch
Work in St st for 5 ½ (6 ½, 8) inches
Cut yarn, pull through the loops twice, and weave in ends.

To do the braid:
Measure how long you would like your braid to be and cut the yarn 3 times longer. I did strands of 3. Gather your three strands fold in half and slip knot them through the edge of the hat. Space them about an inch apart. Braid the strands and tie a knot at the bottom.

To add a little extra touch, I sewed flower buttons down the braid. I also added the bow at the bottom of the braid because it was requested by the little cutie I made it for. For my next hat, I will knit a flower and sew it to the front of the hat (I didn't have a flower pattern with me at the time), instead we just put a flower bow on the front.  I like the one braid down the back, but you could also do pig tail braids. I made this hat for an adorable 4 year old and she loved it, she kept swinging her braid back and forth and showing it off!
