Girls Night Out!

Oh yes it's ladies night and we are feeling right!! Every lady needs a night out! My sisters and I along with some of our friends throw a girls night out party every year! This year, we decided to have a "Slumber Party"! We dedcided to go with a zebra print and red theme. Here are some pictures of how we decorated!

I used my Cricut to make the banner and then I tied each circle together with a  red tulle bow. We found the balloons at Hobby Lobby. The zebra material was leftover table runners from my sister-in -laws wedding.

We found the cute zebra gift bags at Hobby Lobby.

To make the cake: We made a 13x9 cake. My sister in law drew the outline on a piece of paper and we laid it on top of the cake and cut it out. The zebra print on the cake was from Wal-Mart, they are sugar sheets, so we just cut out the shape and placed it on the cake! It came out better than we thought it would and it was super fun to have at the party! Would be great for a bachlorette party!

Heat-Bonded Onesies

This is a pretty quick project, and they are so cute! I used my Cricut to cut out the stencils. I then used heat bond to attatch the stencil to the onesie. After the shape is attatched, I used a blanket stitch around the shape to add a little character and I feel like it helps keep it attatched better!

They make great gifts! You could also use this technique for birthday onesies and shirts!

I love to Knit!

Two years ago, my mom showed me how to knit, and now I can't stop! I love knitting! I have made scarfs, hats, and blankets! It is really fun now that I have my little lady, because I can make her cute hats to wear, and she is just so darn cute in them!

Here are a couple of baby hats that I have made recently and you can actually purchase some of them at my Etsy store! The two above are out of the book Baby Beanies by Amanda Keeys

I also made another Rapunzel Hat for my daughter... but this time I added a knitted flower, which I like better!

Rapunzel, Let down your hair...

I wanted to add another version of the Rapunzel hat that I just made. For this one, I knitted the flower and I added two braids. I just keep thinking how adorable it would be to throw a birthday party for my little lady and have her and her little friends wearing these hats! This hat is available at my Etsy Store!

I love the movie Tangled! So, when I saw a crochet version of this Rapunzel hat on Pinterest from Simplistically Sassy, I knew I had to make one of my own. I am a knitter, so I had to make up my own version of the hat.

Hat Directions:
Sizes: baby (child, adult)
Materials: worsted yarn, #8 16” circular needles, yarn needle, marker
Cast on 60 (70, 80)
Work in K1P1 rib for 1 inch
Work in St st for 5 ½ (6 ½, 8) inches
Cut yarn, pull through the loops twice, and weave in ends.

To do the braid:
Measure how long you would like your braid to be and cut the yarn 3 times longer. I did strands of 3. Gather your three strands fold in half and slip knot them through the edge of the hat. Space them about an inch apart. Braid the strands and tie a knot at the bottom.

To add a little extra touch, I sewed flower buttons down the braid. I also added the bow at the bottom of the braid because it was requested by the little cutie I made it for. For my next hat, I will knit a flower and sew it to the front of the hat (I didn't have a flower pattern with me at the time), instead we just put a flower bow on the front.  I like the one braid down the back, but you could also do pig tail braids. I made this hat for an adorable 4 year old and she loved it, she kept swinging her braid back and forth and showing it off!

Tag Clutchy

My mom and I were shopping when we came across a little store that sold "tag blankets". My mom and I looked at them and right away we were thinking the same thing, "We could make these ourselves". As soon as we got home we got to work and made about 12 in 90 minutes.

We call ours a "Tag Clutchy". I made this tag to go along with the clutchy so that people can understand the concept of what they are.

One side of the clutchy is fleece and the other is flanel. We bought our fleece and flanel at Hobby Lobby. First you cut squares out of both kinds of material. I usually do anywhere between 9x9-12x12. Line them up together and with pinking shears, cut the sides.

Choose the ribbons that you would like to use for your clutchy (make sure that they are different colors and textiles) and cut them in 7 inch strips. You will need at least 12 strips of ribbon. Fold the ribbons in half and pin them in between the two materials like pictured below. Once you have pinned all of your ribbons to the material, sew them together. We just sew once around, but you could do it twice if you would like.

I love the concept of the "tag clutchy", it is something cuddly and comforting, and it can also be a learning tool. My daughter who was 3 months in the picture below, loves to play with her tag clutchy! She likes to hold the ribbons and put the fleece and flanel against her cheeks. It is a great gift for babies and children up to the age of 2, maybe even a little older.  Whenever I go to a baby shower, I always include a "tag clutchy" to the gift!

Sassy Skirts

My mom and I made these skirts for my little girl. We bought little boy jean shorts that were on clearance for $1.99. We cut the shorts straight across at the crotch and pulled the strings at the bottom to make it look a little distressed. We then cut the tulle and gathered together. You will have to mess around with how many layers you want of tulle. I like more layers! You will have to make the length of the tulle about 3x longer than then the diameter of the skirt to get the proper gathered look.
You then sew the tulle to the skirt. To cover the seam made from sewing the tulle to the skirt, we sewed rick rack over it. After you have done the tulle, it is time to be creative! You can add a bow, buttons, crystals, or embroidery. You can be as creative as you want!! Go crazy!

Hospital Survival Kit

My sister-in-law is having a baby on Tuesday. I wanted to do something for her before she went in. Just recently having a baby myself, I know that there are some items that the hospital does not provide. I got this idea off of Pinterest which led me to a blog. The blog allows you to download the Hospital Survival Kit label, which I used, or you could make your own label.

I chose to put the following items in my kit: Shampoo, Conditioner, Mouth Wash, Loofah, Facial Wipes, Mints, Gum, Candy Bar, Cookies, Granola Bar, Magazine, and a Movie. You could fill your kit with numerous items. Put all of your goodies in a bag of your choice. Top it off with some tissue paper and your Hospital Survival Kit is complete!
